Maybe they were just intimidated. With nearby towns named the Highlands, Pepperwood Grove, and Glenhaven, the folks at Clear Lake Villas knew they had to step up their game. Nestled along the North end of California’s largest natural fresh water lake, this community was in need of a new image. So in 1930 they gave the job to Mr. Charles Bayne, who must not have been one of the popular kids in High School. So… perhaps recalling a shy, awkward girl in school who people say is “nice,” Charley renamed the town with a fine name. A perfectly acceptable name. A name that’s okay. It’s Nice. And it has a good personality too.
